Here's my fasting 84. Couldn't find the picture earlier.
We have just over 10 miles to make today to get to Summerland. It's freezing cold this morning and I sit in my tent and drink coffee in my vestibule. There's a deer literally 5 feet away from my tent chomping on the grass that I peed on last night. I comb my hair out so it looks like a giant purple bush right now. I walk down to the bear locker to get my food and go to the bathroom, then trudge back to the campsite. As we are packing up, I hear this voice say "Is there a Tina here?" What!!?? I turn my head and there out of thin air is Wired!!! I freak out and attack her with hugs and babble incessantly about crap I don't even remember. Hopefully, she doesn't think I'm a lunatic. Apparently, she saw me walk by and called my name but I didn't hear her. She made the second attempt by coming to our campsite directly. So glad she made that second attempt! And thank God for purple hair so she can recognize me :-) She gives us some trail info and internet info cuz that's her expertise and why she's aptly called Wired. I have been a blog follower of her for 5 years ever since she first did the PCT so it was superb that I got to meet her. She has a fabulous blog with lots of trail and gear info: http://walkingwithwired.com/ She's already onto her next adventure in Australia. Yay Wired!!
Yes, I look like a giant troll doll with Wired :-p SOOO happy to see her though!
On our walk to Summerland, we will be walking through White River where our food cache is waiting for us. But once we get there, we discover the food is not there! We paw through the hiker bin but no bucket for us. We scored some dehydrated kiwi and trail mix from the cast-offs though. Next thing you know, Ingrid has her thumb out on the side of the road and says she's going to the ranger station to find our food. Two cars later picked her up, she gave us a nonchalant wave and off she went. Okay, so Nancy and I went back to the picnic table we had commandeered and proceeded to wash ourselves and our clothes in the campground bathroom sink. Ingrid is back pretty quickly and our food is in some obscure location. The ranger says he will bring it to us. So we sit and eat snacks and drink coffee and do some laundry. Pretty nice break. Not too much later the Ranger rolls in with our bucket o' food. Crisis averted! And thank you to the very nice Ranger man.
Kiwi I scored.
Having a coffee break.
Looks of exuberance on Nancy's face as she fingers the coffee packets in our resupply.
Resupply vittles.
Back to walking. Not too shabby.
Chowing down on non-GMO blueberries the entire way. LOL
You can't see him very well but that's the biggest fattest marmot I've ever seen.
Grouse
2 hour post prandial after dinner. Highest number I'll see the whole time.
