Poway Ridge

Last night Ingrid, Ina and I met up with Jim's group to hike Poway Ridge.  It was 90 degrees at 5:30!  Phew.  It actually felt really good.  We were hanging around waiting for the group at the trailhead and apparently they had all met in the parking lot and done introductions.  A few of them seemed irritated that they had to go through introductions again for those of us waiting in the shade.  Red Lipstick Lady was there again and she looked sour as usual.  She looked particularly perturbed that they had to do intros again.  Oh well!

We started walking along Community Road and it hooked up to a side trail that went up and up and up and up.  What a nice hill work-out.  Ingrid and I powered up the hill and didn't stop once.  There was some sketchiness about which way we were supposed to go.  Jim was way in the back with a lady who hadn't hiked much so he stayed with her.  Kudos to Rose, BTW, for finishing this hike is the heat!

We decided to go off the beaten path and hiked up to the top of Geico parking lot, then met up with the rest of the group at their turn-around point.  We didn't feel it was long enough so we decided to push it up to the water tower instead of walking back with the group.  Joanne, a group member, decided to join us.  I'm glad we did it otherwise it wouldn't have been a very long work-out.  We made it to the top of the hill and then turned around and made our way back in a loop to the parking lot.  Everyone else was already gone.  We finished at 7:20 and it was 83 degrees.  I have no idea of the mileage.  I left my garmin laying on the counter at home.

What a great hike and wonderful to see Ingrid and Ina again.
